GTR with Tune and Midpipe!
I recently had a tune made for my GTR, and since last saturday was opening day at MIR Raceway in Maryland I decided I would go down and give it a try at the test and tune. The car bonestock ran consisent 11.60's at 117, 118 mph with a best of 11.58 last November so I hoped to run good.
The way I got started was a couple of weeks ago I contacted Jack Cecil at Horsepower Logic in Southern Fla and he recommended and sold me a resonated HKS mid pipe (10,15 min install) and a custom tune that he does himself which I downloaded and then I took out for a drive and thought wow this thing is fast! So last saturday morning I drove out to the MIR test and tune and the weather was beautiful and the air excellent. I went up to the line and decided I would just mash the gas when tree came down, no power brake, just gas and go! Well to my surprise the car turned a 10.74 at 128mph on its first and only full pass! After that pass they came down from the tower and told me if I ran another 10 second run I couldn't bring the car back without a cage so I ran a couple more 1/8 mile passes to data log some info for the tuner so we can tweek the tune a little, and ran almost the exact 1/8 mile times as my 1/4 mile run (6.9's at 103mph). I have to say I am very happy and very impressed with the tune and the way the car feels now is just unreal as it shifts are greatly improved as well as the way it comes on boost. The GTR is just an ureal car! Anyone thinking about a tune on their GTR ought to do it, it takes the car to a whole other level!

Thanks for posting this up, Jamie! The 11.6 run(before mods) was done using LC?

Thanks Guys! My car doesn't have LC1 and your probably thinking of LC1, the late 2009 cars, which my car is had the 4500 rpm launch (LC1) taken away and get a reprogram referred to as LC2 which limits launch to a 2800 rpm leave which really isn't much of a launch at all and like I wrote in my post I decided not to even use. I found when my car was stock and when I took it to the track last week that if left best if I just stomped the gas and go.

I see. I asked because the first GTRs also runned 11.6 but using LC.
Anyway, time to get a cage now

Thanks Art, sounds good! I knew it was you as soon as I saw your avatar.
As far as a cage goes, that would never happen with me as I have done the race car thing many times in my life and those days are over for me as far as competitive racing goes. If they don't let me run at regular events I will just take it out at rentals and enjoy it on the street.
